Neon Tetra

Neon Tetras are a fantastic addition to a community aquarium, bringing color and liveliness without aggressive behavior. With the proper care, tank conditions, and companionship, they can thrive and enhance the beauty of your aquatic setup.

• Size: Neon Tetras usually grow to about 1 to 1.5 inches (2.5 to 4 cm) in length.
• Coloration: They are easily recognizable due to their striking blue body with a bright red stripe running from the middle of their body to the base of their tail. This coloration becomes more vibrant when kept in ideal conditions.
• Lifespan: With proper care, Neon Tetras can live for 5 to 10 years in captivity.

• • Tank Size: A minimum tank size of 10 gallons (38 liters) is recommended for a school of Neon Tetras, as they are social fish that thrive in groups.
  • Water Parameters: They prefer soft, slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0 to 7.5) and a temperature range of 70 to 81°F (21 to 27°C).
  • Aquascaping: Provide plenty of plants, hiding spots, and open swimming areas. Floating plants can create a more natural environment, mimicking their habitat in the wild.
  • Filtration: A gentle filtration system is recommended, as Neon Tetras are sensitive to strong currents.

  Feeding

  Neon Tetras are omnivorous and can be fed a variety of foods, including:
  • High-quality flake or pellet foods designed for tropical fish.
  • Live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms.
  • Plant matter, as they will also appreciate blanched vegetable matter.

  Social Behavior

  • Schooling Fish: Neon Tetras are best kept in groups of at least six or more. They feel safer and display natural behaviors when in a school.
  • Compatibility: They are generally peaceful and can be housed with other small, non-aggressive fish species. Avoid keeping them with larger, aggressive fish that may see them as prey.
